2001: A Space Odyssey
What?

I'm going to be brutally honest here, I was so confused pretty much the whole way through the film. I still don't fully understand what it was about (especially the ending). There are some parts that I can appreciate. The use of sound was incredible. Most people pick up on the music in the film but I enjoyed the scenes that focused on silence. For example, that eerie scene will Hal:

"I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that". It sends literal shivers down my spine. Its the lack of music that gives the scene its horrible feeling, a feeling completely devoid of emotion.

However, I have to say that the ending confused the life out of me. Why is Dave transported through some psychedelic dimension and then why does he appear in Louis XIII's bedroom? I have no idea. Maybe Dave becomes some sort of super being, a god, a deity. I guess we will never know. I think that could actually be the point of the film. Make your own assumptions, come up with your own conclusions. An interesting message to make in, what is, a very strange movie.
